Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate Christopher Townsend Calls for better Energy Efficiency

At last Wednesday's Dacorum Borough Council meeting, Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for South West Hertfordshire, Christopher Townsend, called for the Borough to invest in a thermal imaging camera, which residents could hire to measure how heat efficient their houses are.

Speaking after the meeting, Christopher Townsend said, "It is cheap for the council and raises awareness of energy waste."

"Three Rivers [District Council] recently bought a thermal imaging camera and this has proven to be very popular. I suggest that Dacorum Borough Council does the same."

Ann Shaw, Liberal Democrat leader of Three Rivers District Council, supports Christopher Townsend's proposal. Commenting on the popularity of Three Rivers' thermal imaging camera, she said "residents welcome the chance offered by this initiative to identify how they can cut energy costs, and make their own contribution to combating global warming."

Christopher Townsend has put 'green living' at the heart of his campaign to become the next Member of Parliament for South West Hertfordshire. "It is important for every one of us to do our bit to protect the environment," he says. "One way of doing this is to make our homes more energy efficient. This will also save us money."
