Derek Scudder, Liberal Democrat Spokesperson on Waste said: 'We agree that the New Barnfield site is unsuitable for any sort of waste management facility. The Liberal Democrat group at County hall has consistently opposed the use of the site and on a number of occasions has put forward motions to that effect. The ruling Tory group has always voted these down.

Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for South West Hertfordshire, Christopher Townsend has commented on his party's plan for the banking sector, which the Lib Dem Shadow Chancellor Vince Cable announced last week. Christopher Townsend said: "Without a clear strategy for the banks, we are likely to see history repeating itself - another systemic failure of the banking system followed by another taxpayer-funded bailout."

At Wednesday's Dacorum Borough Council meeting, Christopher Townsend, who is the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for S W Herts and Councillor for Tring West and Rural, called for the Dacorum Borough to lower its Council Tax demand. Dr Richard Grayson, the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Hemel Hempstead offered his full support for this amendment.

At last Wednesday's Dacorum Borough Council meeting, Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for South West Hertfordshire, Christopher Townsend, called for the Borough to invest in a thermal imaging camera, which residents could hire to measure how heat efficient their houses are.
